GENERAL ELECTION
MASTERTON ROLL BEING PURGED. MANY NOTICES SENT OUT. The task of purging the Masterton electoral roll, in anticipation of a general eleclion, is well under way. There are about 12,000 names on the roll at present. It is customary to carry out a purging of the roll about six months before the date of an election.
Notices are being sent out to all enrolled persons asking for particulars of any change in address, etc., and if these are returned unclaimed, registered letters are despatched. Already 8000 notices have been posted out of 11,500 expected to be necessary, and 500 registered letters have been sent out.
Persons who have changed their address to another electorate are advised to enrol in the new district, while in the case of those who have changed their address within the electorate, the necessary amendments are made on the roll. Members of the fightingforces overseas remain on the roll according to the address given on the roll.
Persons receiving notices are requested to return them promptly, as otherwise their names will be removed from the roll, while those desiring to enrol should make a point- of doing so at once, before the roll is closed.
