PATRIOTIC SOCIETY

FORTNIGHTLY EUCHRE PARTY, i

(“Times-Age” Special.)

At the fortnightly euchre party held by the Patriotic Society on Saturday evening the winners were:—Ladies: Mrs W. Rolls; men, Mr T. Smith. The following gifts were auctioned by Mr H. Buick: —Fowls, donated by Mrs D. Smith, realised 22s 6d; half a sheep, donated by the Didsbury Estate, brought £1 16s 7d; vegetables, donated by Master Charlie Leach, were sold for 16s 9d; by Mrs Hurford, for 5s 6d, and by Mrs Yarral, 3s 3d; 2 bunches red berries, given by Mrs E. Seymour, brought 7s 6d; swedes, donated by the Didsbury Estate, realised 4s. < The raffle for a box of chocolates was won by Mr F. McDonald. The sum of £2 12s was realised. A raffle for half a sheep was won by Mr A. Edmonds, who handed it back to be auctioned, the sum of £1 16s 9d being obtained.

The grand total for the evening was £ll. The hostesses were Mrs Hull and Misses S. Napier and G. Napier.

Horne Guard. The Home Guard met in the hall on Saturday and spent the afternoon in gun practice. Women's Auxiliary. The members of the Women's Auxiliary War Service on Saturday sat for the theory part of their First Aid examination, which is to be completed on Saturday next.
