RAGLAN LEADS DOMINION
FLAG COMPETITION. FEATHERSTON STILL AHEAD IN WELLINGTON AREA. (Ev Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. As a result of a whole-hearted effort by an energetic committee of citizens. Raglan, in the Hamilton district, has wrested from Edendale, in the Invercargill district, the proud position of the “leading’' town in the Dominion in the National Savings flag competition. From the point of view of percentage of depositors to population Edendale, with 86 per cent of depositors to population, held the Dominion lead over a long period and it took a big effort on the part of the citizens at Raglan to reach 86.5 per cent and thus to displace Edendale. The next nearest competitors are Ohakune Junction (in the Wanganui district) with 68.25 per cent depositors to population and Murchison (in the Nelson district) with 60.4 per cent. The leading towns in all districts are now as follow: Auckland district, Ruawai; Blenheim district, Picton; Christchurch district, Waiau; Dunedin district, Owaka; Gisborne district, Te Araroa; Greymouth district, Hokitika; Hamilton district, Raglan; Invercargill district, Edendale; Napier district, Porangahau; Nelson district, Murchison; New Plymouth district, Stratford; Oamaru district, Kurow, Palmerston North District, Pongaroa; Thames district, Thames; Timaru district, Geraldine; Wanganui district, Ohakune Junction; Wellington district, Featherston; Westport district, Westport.
