Mr H. B. Irvine entered the Masterton Hospital this afternoon to undergo an operation. Major S. T. Seddon, M.C., camp commandant, Ngaruawahia, has relinquished his command to proceed overseas.

The death occurred yesterday at Dovedale. Nelson, of Mr John William Eatwell, formerly a resident of the Wairarapa, at the age of 82 years.

Mr and Mrs Norman Blatchford, Training Farm, Masterton, have returned from a visit to Wellington, where Mr Blatchford attended the Royal Show Conference as a delegate.

The death has occurred in Hamilton of Mr Thomas Reekie, aged 62. Mr Reekie, who was born in England, (came to New Zealand about 42 years ago, and for many years was a cream grader and dairy instructor. Mr Alex Grant, who for the past two years has been manager of the Regent and Cosy Theatres, Masterton, has received notice of transfer to the Regent Theatre, Whangarei. Mi- Grant will take up his new duties in the immediate future.

A well-known Napier resident, Mr William Herbert McKay, has died at the age of 77 years, Mr McKay was born at Liverpool and came to New Zealand in 1882. He was for some years in business in Wellington, and went io Napier in 1901, when he took over the old Temperance Hotel in Thackeray Street. In 1922 he left Napier for Tikokino, and three years later went to Christchurch. He returned to Napier about a year ago.
