Members of the Home Guard journeyed to the coast via Western Lake on Sunday for the purpose of becoming acquainted with the district and also to receive instruction in demolition work by an expert. There was a splendid attendance at the Home Guard dance on Saturday night in the Anzac Hall. The gathering was a most successr.tl one. The duties of M.C. were capably carried out by .Mr Chas Buck, who’ was responsible for organising the dance. The music was supplied by Udy’s Orchestra. The supper was under the control of a ladies’ committee. The supper room decorations were carried out by Mesdames Carter and J. Buck.

Shortly before the end of the dance Commander Hayes delivered a short recruiting address. He was supported by Battalion Commander Carter from Grey town. The competition for a hmp donated by Mr R. Yule was won by Mrs R. Jepson.
