HAPPY GATHERING

COMING OF AGE PARTY ON SATURDAY NIGHT. MR K. E. FORREST HONOURED. There was a happy gathering in Masterton on Saturday night when Mrs A. Forrest entertained a number’ of guests at her residence, Essex Street, in honour of the corning of age of her youngest son, Mr K. E. Forrest. Dancing and competitions were thoroughly enjoyed and the function was a pronounced success. Mr J. West provided the music and extras were played by Mr N. O’Kane. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr J. Bradbury and under his capable supervision proceedings went with a swing. Among the visitors present were Mr and Mrs Derek Forrest (Elsthorpc) and Misses Celia and Jessie Stephenson (Waipawa). In proposing the toast to the guest of honour Mr Bradbury referred to the excellent personal qualities of Mr Forrest and wished him good health and happiness in the future. Mr Forrest suitably responded. He expressed his thanks to his mother, Mrs A. Wyeth and his relatives for their kindness in arranging the function. He also thanked his grandmother. Mrs F. Hood (aged 83 years) for having made the cake. An excellent supper was served. Dancing was resumed and the gathering was brought to a close with the singing of Auld Lang Syne and the National Anthem.
