MISSING FAMILY

DEPARTURE FROM TARANAKI FARM START ON CAMPING HOLIDAY IN MARCH. NOTHING HEARD OF THEM SINCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ' NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. The police, when asked this morning, could throw no further light on the disappearance of Cecil . Arthur Malcolm, of Riverlea, and his wife andi family, who left their farm on March 22 on a camping tour, with no arrangements for its management during a prolonged absence. Inquiries have been going on for more than a month by the police and relatives. It is thought possible that when he left Riverlea. Mr Malcolm was suffering from some nervous disability. Described as of a quiet disposition, Mr Malcolm is 35 years of age. The family consist of two sons and a daughter, aged eleven, nine and five respectively. The cows on the farm had been partly dried off before he left and since then neighbours have been caring for the stock.

Expressing an intention of spending a long camping holiday, possibly of some months, at a beach, to get a rest, Mr Malcolm, who has been farming at Riverlea for several years, left in his car, with a caravan attached. At the time it was thought that the party was going to Tauranga, but inquiries there revealed no trace.

About a month after the Malcolms left Riverlea, the police instituted inquiries and relatives and friends, who felt concerned for the whereabouts of the party, did the same* The following descriptions have been circulated: Cecil Arthur Malcolm, aged 35, 5 feet 8 inches, dairy farmer, medium build, dark, usually dressed in a grey or brown suit. Olive Gray Malcolm, aged 38, 5 feet 7 inches, medium build, sallow complexion, light brown hair. The children are Howard, aged eleven. Graham, aged nine, and Margaret, aged five.
