CANTERBURY MARKETS. CHAFF A LITTLE FIRMER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. June 27. Shipments of potatoes to Auckland this week have aggregated 14,000 sacks and the market has consequently been considerably quieter than last week. One of the shipments was of rather more than 10,000 sacks, easily the heaviest this season. It is expected that the market here will remain quiet for a week or more. Prices have not yet weakened appreciably and quotations remain the same as at the end of last week. Chaff has firmed a little and is worth about £3 15s. There is no great quantity of business yet. Oats are very quiet and reports indicate that there is not a great quantity left in the country. Millers’ requirements are practically filled and this has had an effect. Millers have bought much earlier than usual this year. The small seeds markets are lifeless.
