GIFT PARCELS
ADMISSION INTO ENGLAND NEW REGULATIONS. WEIGHT LIMITED TO FIVE POUNDS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.! WELLINGTON. This Day. The Postmaster-General, Mr Webb, announced last evening that consequent upon the introduction of new regulations covering the admission into the United Kingdom of gift parcels of all kinds, the Post Office could not after today accept any such parcels exceeding five pounds in weight. Moreover, no gift food parcel must contain more than two pounds of any one foodstuff. Mr Webb emphasised that the restrictions were imposed by the British Ministry of Food with a view to conserving shipping space for more urgent supplies, and the Post Office could not do otherwise than apply the restrictions. Concerning the frequency of dispatch of such parcels, Mr Webb advised senders not to send a parcel to any one person more frequently than once a month; otherwise confiscation might take place in the United Kingdom. “Thbugh the point is not yet clear,” added Mr Webb, “it is being assumed that the weight limit of five pounds does not apply to parcels for members of the armed forces in the United Kingdom."
