FINLAND & SWEDEN
ATTITUDE TOWARDS WAR BRITISH GOVERNMENT CONCERNED. GERMANS TO BE ATTACKED WHERE FOUND. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day. 1.5 p.m.) LONDON, June 26. It is understood that the British Government is concerned at the attitude adopted by Finland and Sweden to the Russo-German war. Considerable numbers of Germans are established in Finland, thereby enabling them gravely to compromise Finnish neutrality. Britain reserves the right to attack Germans wherever they are found and it must be assumed that the Russians also feel it necessary to take all measures to prevent Germans establishing themselves. Urgent attention is also being given to Sweden's position in view of her decision to permit the transit of German troops. A Foreign Office spokesman in Stockholm said Sweden had agreed to the transit of Germans because Finland wished the troops io proceed to Finland to protect her in case of attack. It was believed that the agreement furthered Sweden’s chief interest, namely to keep out of the war.
