Yesterday afternoon, Germans in Madrid carried out a carefully organised "riot'’ outside the British Embassy. About 300 to 400 young men. wearing Falangist uniforms, arrived outside the Embassy, accompanied by German photographers and film operators. With them arrived a number of vehicles containing bricks and other missiles which were thrown at the Embassy windows, most of which were smashed, and several cars belonging to the Embassy were badly damaged. Agitators were seen at work among the crowd, renewing the disturbances as soon as it became apparent that the demonstration was slackening. The affair, which was a patent Nazi attempt to stir up trouble between Britain and Spain, was faithfully reported by the German 'News Agency. Il is learned in London that the British Ambassador in Madrid (Sir S. Hoare) is taking the matter up with the Spanish Government and that Mr Eden (Foreign Secretary), is seeing the Spanish Ambassador in London.
