SUGGESTED INTERNMENT IN TURKEY ON LAYING DOWN ARMS. NEGOTIATOR OVERDUE ON AIR TRIP. ('Ey Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day at noon.) ANKARA. Juno 25. An aeroplane carrying six Vichy Government officials, including M. Nenoist Mechin, Minister without Portfolio, is 24 hours overdue on a journey from Vichy to Ankara. The purpose of the visit is unknown, but it is believed that M. Mechin was en route to discuss the possibility of evacuating General Dentz’s army from Syria to Turkey, where the troops would be interned, provided they laid down their arms.
