BRITAIN & RUSSIA
VIEWS OF THE BISHOP OF WINCHESTER. "DEFINITE AND LIMITED PURPOSE.” (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 9.15 a.m.) LONDON, June 25. The Bishop of Winchester told a Diocesan conference: “Helping Russia against Germany is clearly a matter of military common sense, but I hope we will not pretend the slightest enthusiasm or sympathy for Russia as now governed. Our help should be strictly of a military character, for a definite and limited purpose —the defeating of Germany.”
