COSY THEATRE

“DAD RUDD, M.P.” Bert Bailey and Fred MacDonald, who play the roles of “Dad” and “Dave” respectively in “Dad Rudd, M.P.,” which will be shown at the Cosy Theatre tonight, are the original "Dad” and "Dave,” having played the parts in the stage version of “On Our Selection,” when Steele Rudd first wrote the story. During the stage life of "On Our Selection” they played the parts so often that both became better known as “Dad” and “Dave” than by their own names. Naturally, when "On Our Selection” was brought to the screen by Cinesouna, they were the obvious choice for the parts of “Dad” and "Dave” and the amazing success of ' that film brought them further fame and popularity. Later, when Cinesound continued the Rudd family series with the production of "Grandad Rudd” and “Dad and Dave Came to Town,” Bert Bailey and Fred MacDonald were the first members of the cast selected, of course, for the roles of “Dad” and “Dave.” A side-splitting- comedy, "Chasing Trouble,” starring Frankie Darro, will be the associate picture. The picture has Darro as "Cupid O’Brien,” a delivery boy for a florists shop, who gets into all kinds of trouble because he insists he is a handwriting expert. Because “Cupid” judges people solely by their handwriting, his judgment sometimes gets a little confused. Frankie Darro is excellent in the mirth-provok-ing role of “Cupid O’Brien.” Mantan Moreland is the other half of the team, and together these two keep the audience in fits of laughter.
