GREYTOWN
HOME GUARD CONFERENCE OF OFFICERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Forty officers of the South Wairarapa Home Guard Battalion held a conference at Greytown last evening, when matters of policy and training were discussed. The Commander, Captain H. G. Carter, outlined the method of co-op-eration to be aimed at between the different units. The Pirinoa and Kahutara units will now form a complete company for administration purposes, but will each continue to parade at their own drill centre.
INTER-CLUB GOLF RIVERSIDE TEAM DEFEATED. In an inter-club golf match between the Riverside and Greytown clubs, the latter won by 12 games to nine. The following are the results. Riverside names being mentioned first in every case: Fourball: A. Bell and J. Wakelin lost to J. Feast and H. Feast; R. Wearne and A. McKenzie all square with B. Kiernan and T. Gold; R. Bell and E. Bannister lost to J. Kiernan. Personal Items. Mr W. H.’ Lyster returned to Battersea today after a holiday spent in Wellington. Mr P. Brickell is at present visiting Wellington. Mr J. F. Thompson was a weekend visitor to Wellington. Mr E. Skeet returned to his home yesterday after having been a patient in the Greytown Hospital for a short period. Advice has been received in Greytown that Nurse Hitchman, at one time Plunket Nurse in this district, and who is now a member of the Army Nursing Service overseas, had met with an accident and was at present in hospital undergoing treatment.
