ASHBURTON
WIN FOR GOLDEN GLOW. GAY PARADE SALUTES JUDGE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ASHBURTON. June 21. The weather was fine and cold and the attendance fair for the Ashburton County Racing Club's meeting. The track was greasy. The totalisator handled £15,793 10s against £14,715 last year. A protest against Gay Parade in the Maronan Handicap was made by E. J. Ellis, trainer of the second horse Waitoru on the grounds that Gay Parade was not trained by the owners, Broad and Wilson, as slated in the race bock but by F. T. Buchanan, who bred and formerly raced him. A statement was put in by Broad and Wilson to the effect that Buchanan held a third interest in the horse and this was duly registered with the Racing Conference. The stewards thereupon adjourned the hearing of the protest till 11 a.m. tomorrow to allow of the necessary information being obtained from - the Conference and in the meantime the paying of all dividends was hold up. Should it be found that Buchanan holds an interest, no doubt everything will be deemed to be in order and there is not likely to be any change in the placings.
