The Hon P. C. Webb. Minister of Labour, returned to Wellington yesterday from the South Island.
Corporal R. M. Macfarlane, M.P.. formerly Mayor of Christchurch, who has been in training at Burnham Camp, has been promoted to the rank of sergeant.
The Hon D. G. Sullivan, Minister of Supply and Munitions, who will be engaged in the South Island today on linen flax business, will return to Wellington tomorrow.
Miss J. Cooper, of the Order of St. John, Masterton, is one of the Voluntary Aids going to Wellington for work at the Aotea Clearing Station. Miss Cooper’s name was inadvertently omitted from the list published recently.
The death occurred suddenly at his residence, Island Bay, on Saturday of Mr W. J. Churchill, a tailor whose business premises are in Vivian Street. Wellington, and who is well known ir. Masterton, where, relatives reside. He was a prominent Freemason.
The death occurred on Saturday of Mi- Eparaima Wehikore, of Te Ore Ore, at the age of 45 years. The late Mr Wehikore, who saw service in the last war, has suffered ill health for some time and for several weeks had been a patient in the Mastertori Hospital. The funeral will take place at the Te Ore Ore Native Cemetery tomorrow at 2 p.m.
News has been received in Masterton of the death in Wellington this morning of Mr Henry Inns. Mr Inns formerly lived in Masterton where he was well known in musical circles, being for a number of years a playing member of the Orchestral Society. He is survived by his widow (a daughter cf the late Mr C. E. Daniell), one son, Lieutenant G. D. Inns, R.N.V.R.. of Singapore, and two daughters.
