VOLUNTARY AIDS
WAIRARAPA MEMBERSTOREPORT FOR TRAINING. FURTHER ENROLMENTS WANTED. The following voluntary aids have received notice to report for duty at the Aotea Quay Clearing Hospital in the near future: —Mesdames C. Deans. C. Shaw. Misses J. Douglas. I. Barton. L, Beetham, M. McLaren. N. Morrison, M. Speedy, M. Nicholaison (all of Masterton), Miss L. Blundell (Martinborough), R. White (Eketahuna), and P. Smith (Featherston), These voluntary aids have been trained by the Red Cross and Order of St. John for work in hospitals in time of emergency. They have all passed examinations in First Aid, Home Nursing and hygiene and sanitation, and have done more than 100 hours practical hospital work. Some have also had experience in kitchen and laundry work and as these departments at the clearing hospital are being staffed entirely by voluntary aids this training is of special value.
Greater numbers of voluntary aids are needed as more of the training nursing staff are being called for military service. The Red Cross and Order of St. John organisations have been given the training of these detachments and young women interested in this branch of work are asked to enrol and commence training at once.
