BOWLING CLUB IMPROVEMENTS TO GREEN. ("Times-Age" Special.) The caretaker, Mr E. Kilmister, and several "working bees" have made considerable improvements to the Carterton green and its surroundings. These improvements should be very much appreciated by members of the club and visitors when the greens are officially opened in the new season. Women's War Service Auxiliary. All women and girls interested in the operations of the Women's War Service Auxiliary are invited to attend a meeting on Friday next at 8 p.m. in the Dalefield Dairy Co's, buildings. Personal Items. Mrs L. Goodin, of Kent Street. Carterton, who had spent an extended holiday at Te Kauwhata. has returned to her home. Soldiers Return to Camp. The local soldiers who recently returned from Suva and who have been spending leave in Carterton, returned to camp yesterday. They were given a hearty send off at the Carterton railway station. TOTARA LODGE MEETING. Arch Druid Bro. Basil Neilsen presided over the meeting of Totara Lodge No. 3. U.A.0.D., held last night. Bro. R. N. Nunn, of Gladstone, advised that he had entered the Waipukurau Sanatorium for treatment. Bro. S. Corwell advised that he had re-entered the Greytown Hospital to undergo an operation. Bro. Alfred Alexander Hawke, of Solway, notified that he had been accepted for active service overseas and furnished the necessary particulars. The final statement in connection with the ball was presented showing total receipts to have been £56 9s, and the expenditure £l7 Ils 3d. leaving a ; credit balance of £3B 17s 7d, which ■" Will be used for the benefit of soldier members on active service overseas. Sick pay and accounts amounting to £l9 5s 4d were passed for payment. For the half year ended May, £263 Us 6d was paid in sick pay to members, and during the same period £l4O 11s was paid for sickness benefits by the Social Security Department through the lodge. PLUNKET SOCIETY ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Carterton branch of the Plunket Society was held on Monday, June 16, in the Phinket Rooms. Mrs Wells presiding over a fair attendance. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Kiernan and H. E. Jackson and Mr W. Howard Booth. Members stood in silence as a mark cf respect to the memory of two vicepresidents, Misses Moncrieff and Strang. The report and balance sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mrs Wells; vicepresidents, Mesdames W. H. Booth, F. Court, J. Steel, H. E. Jackson, and J. Udy; committee, Mesdames Armstrong, Callender, Candy, Campbell, Dyer, Robinson and Montgomery; advisory board, Messrs W. Howard Booth, A. C. Tucker. W. J.’ Candy, J. Steel, the Rev. W. F. Stent. Drs. Campbell and Wells; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mrs Trapp; hon. auditor, Mr H. Mortenson. Dr. Sara Mulholland addressed the meeting on what the Health Department doctors were doing for the school and pre-school children in preventive and remedial measures. The serving of afternoon tea brought the meeting to a close.
