LANGDALE

PATRIOTIC GATHERING A RECORD ATTENDANCE. (“Times-Age" Special.) There was a record attendance at the Langdale Hall on Saturday night, when a dance was held in aid of the fund to send parcels to soldiers from the Coast ‘district on active service. The music was supplied by Te Tau’s orchestra and extras were played by Mrs C. Paku. Much appreciated items were given by a Maori concert party. Supper was provided by the Maoris and was cooked in native ovens. Many favourable comments were passed on the excellent repast. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr C. J. Hay. Members of the Wairarapa Returned Soldiers' Association were present and conducted rapid raffles. At the end of the dance a quantity of produce was auctioned. The secretary, Mrs R. S. Pilmer, stated this morning that approximately £75 had been raised by the function, and could be regarded as a splendid effort.
