ORDERED TO LEAVE

JAPANESE IN DUTCH EAST INDIES ACCORDING TO MOSCOW RADIO. BITTER TALK IN TOKIO. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, June 12. Moscow radio says it is reported from Tokio that Japanese nationals have been ordered to leave the Netherlands East Indies. Shipping facilities are being provided. The Batavia correspondent of the Tokio “Asahi Shimbun” has reported a steady increase in the evacuation of Japanese residents due to apprehension regarding the future relations of Japan and the East Indies, and added that wholesale evacuation is under way also from Borneo and Sumatra. The “Nichi Nichi Shimbun” asserted that the withdrawal of the Japanese delegation from Batavia would strengthen Japan’s determination to make the Netherlands East Indies an important element of her East Asiatic sphere of shared prosperity. The Nationalist “Hochi Shimbun” urges the Government to act quickly to cope with the resulting situation, and claims that the resources of the Netherlands East Indies should not be monopolised by the Netherlands, Britain, and the United States. Japan would not hesitate to make any sacrifices in order to realise her programme for shared prosperity.

ALLEGED PRESSURE IN INDO-CHINA & THAILAND. CUTTING OFF JAPANESE SUPPLIES. (Received This Day, 9.30 a.m.) TOKIO, June 13. The Tokio “Nichi Nichi Shimbun” prints a Hanoi message, claiming that reliable information has been received saying the United States and Britain, taking advantage of the deadlock in the Batavia parleys, suddenly started joint activities in Indo-China and Thailand, in order to carry out an economic blockade against Japan. Britain at present, it is alleged, is exerting pressure on Thailand, to supply Britain with all exports intended for Japan, in exchange for petrol. The newspaper also charges AngloAmerican moneyed interests with collaborating with Chinese merchants, aiming to corner the Thailand and Indo-China export of rice and blocking shipments to Japan.
