PLUNKET SOCIETY
MONTHLY MEETING. HELD IN MASTERTON YESTERDAY. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Plunket Society was held in Masterton yesterday afternoon. The president. Mrs J. Caselberg. presided. There were also present, Mesdames J. D. O’Connor, S. L. P. Free. W. A. Michael D. Donald. A. H. Falloon. J. V. Gordon. C. T. Richardson, N. Irwin. Sortain Smith, P. Nathan. J. James. Apologies were received from Mesdames C. A. Carmine. T. W. Wardell. T. Jordan. T. F. Watson, J. M. Coradine and J. C. Broad. ’ Prior to the commencement of business a motion was passed extending the society’s sympathy to Miss A. Reynolds in connection with the death of her mother. Il was stated that Mrs Reynolds was a consistent worker for the society. Regret was expressed at the departure of Miss M. 'F. Barnett, Matron of Masterton Hospital. Reference to her co-operation and splendid work in.the interests of the' society was made by the president. It was reported that the president and members of the society had spent an enjoyable time at Featherston last week when the Featherston branch held its 25th anniversary. In accordance with the wishes of the Dominion Council, in connection with emergency precautions work, selected women and members of the committee were given a practical demonstration in mothercraft by Nurses Cocker and Humphries, for which they were thanked.
Appreciation was expressed of the action of the Tinui sub-branch in forwarding an additional contribution of £lO towards branch expenses. It was decided to forward the annual grant of £lO to the Karitane Hospital. The nurses’ report was as follows: Masterton: Visits to office, adults 450 babies 432, pre-school children 75, telephone 151, total 1180. Visits to homes, new cases 46, old 114. total 160. Preschool children seen in homes 39. New cases for the month, town 19. country 4. Out-sfations: Tinui sub-branch, Taiieru, Blairlogie, Homewood, 1 visit each. Riversdale, Tinui. Annadalc, 1 visit each. Visits to new case 2. old cases 18, total 20. Mauriceville sub-branch Kopuaranga, Mauriceville East and Mauriceville Wast. 2 visits each. Ihuraua Valley and Mangamahoe, 1 visit each. New cases 3. old 26. Pre-natal section, new cases 1. Return visits 5. visits to homes 1.
A vote of thanks was passed to Mesdames 11. Morrison and Keltie for their generous gifts.
