OBITUARY

MR. J. C. BURNS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Obituary: Mr John Campbell Burns, of Petone, aged 62. He was one of the four sons of Mr Andrew Burns, the well-known journalist, who is still living in Wellington and is 95 years of age. Mr J. C. Burns was headmaster of the Petone West School for eleven years, a member of the Borough Coun-i cil and. till the recent elections at which he was defeated, he was ActingMayor for Mr Lundon, who is on active service. Mr Burns was treasurer of the New Zealand Educational Institute and was connected with numerous Petone activities. He was an ex-Wellington Rugby and cricket representative and also a keen tennis and yachting man.
