STOCK MARKET

ADDINGTON SALE LAMBS IN KEEN DEMAND. GOOD INQUIRY FOR FAT EWES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 11. Entries at the Addington market today were normal and values, generally, showed little change. Fat lambs sold keenly and there was a good demand for medium and light-quality i'at ewes. Only a skeleton penning of store sheep, mostly wethers, was forward. The best of these made up to 21s 3d. Failing-mouth halfbred ewes sold at 16s sd, a good price on recent markets. Best lambs made 15s Id. Exporters were keenly in the market for the heavy penning of 2450 fat lambs, taking about 80 per cent of the offering. Best lines made 30s to 325. A few tops made 34s to 38s, and good to average lines 26s to 295. The entry of fat sheep was heavier, the yarding including southern sheep. Heavy classes were easier, but medium and light ewes were slightly firmer. Good wethers made 26s to 30s; tops made to 32s 6d, and average lines, 23s to 255; good ewes brought 18s 6d to 21s 6d; tops to 245; and medium lines 16s 6d to 18s. Exporters secured a proportion of light sorts. Five hundred and thirty-four fat cattle were penned, more than an average entry. The market opened weaker but firmed to last week’s values. Good steers made £l4 10s to £l6 10s; tops, to £lB 17s 6d; prime mediumweight lines, £l2 15s to £l4 ss; and light down to £B. Best heifers brought to £l3 2s 6d; good, £9 to £lO 15s; and medium down to £6. Good cows made £8 to £10; best, to £l2 ss; and inferior down to £4 15s.

Good beef averaged 36s to 38s a 100 lb. A few tops made to 40s, medium to good 33s to 35s 6d, and rough down to 25s 6d.

Porker prices fluctuated, but, generally, were somewhat easier. Prices ranged from 34s 6d to 58s 6d, an average price a lb. of 6jd to 7d. Baconers were a shade lower, particularly for heavyweights. The average price a lb. was 61d to 7d. SALE AT MASTERTON LATE RATES MAINTAINED. NEARLY TOTAL CLEARANCE. A small yarding of sheep and cattle came forward at the Masterton sale yesterday. Prices were on a par with late sales, and practically a total clearance was effected. The following are some of the realisations: — Sheep.—Fat wethers, 22s 6d to 235; fat hoggets, 18s 6d to 22s 6d; fat ewes, 11s, Ils 2d, Ils 4d, 12s to 13s; forward ewes, 7s 6d to 9s; shorn wether hoggets, to Ils; small hoggets, to 8s 7d; m.a. ewes, r.w, S.D. rams, to 18s 3d; woolly ewe hoggets, to 20s.
