The third day of the Auckland Racing Club's winter meeting was held in dull weather with occasional showers. The track was heavy. There was an attendance of 18,000. compared with 11,500 last year, and the totalisator turnover was £90.536 10s. compared with £57.670 10s last year an increase of £32.866. For the three days the total was £269,917 10s. against £193,107 10s, an increase of £76.810. The Hastings-owned sprinter Sunny Knight continued his winning way today when he scored his first win in open company and his sixth on end. beating a useful field of sprinters in the Heretaunga Handicap, the only open flat event on the first day of the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club’s winter meeting. The weather was beautifully fine and : the track easy, but in good order.
