MINIATURE RIFLES BEST SCORES IN COMPETITION. ("Times-Age” Special.) The following were the best scores in the Featherston Rifle Club’s weekly competition:—M. McKenzie 93, S. Buck 94, I. Feast 92, Mrs Wilson 91, L. Rasmussen 96, R. Rasmussen 93, A. Viles 93. B. Williams 100, A. Cook 97, J. Buck 94, K. McKenzie 99, A. Hodder 98, W. Nix 96, Mrs G. Rhodes 97. Euchre Party and Dance. An euchre party and dance was held in the Kahutara Hall on Tuesday in honour of Lance-Corporal L. G. Fenwick. The hall was packed with settlers from the surrounding districts and Masterton. The winners at euchre were: Ladies. Miss Frew 1. Mrs Parker 2; men, Mr Enoka 1, Mr Ruka 2. The Monte Carlo was \von by Miss Dimes and Mr Siemonek. Udy's orchestra supplied the music. Mr Rendle was M.C.

Mr Rendle presented the guest of the evening with a wristlet watch and Mrs Elbe (president of the Women's Institute) handed him a parcel of knitted comforts. Miss Corlet (Women's Division) presented him with a gift. A shoulder spray was handed to Mrs Fenwick. Supper was provided by the ladies’ committee.

ST. JOHN’S CHURCH ENJOYABLE GATHERING. A gathering was held in the Parish Hall on Thursday night when the members of St. John's Church and their friends spent a happy time. Miss M. Bloxam was in charge of the competitions which were won by Mrs Feast, Miss Bloxam and Mr A. White. Songs were given by the Rev. J. R. Higgs and Mr K. H. Allen and were encored. Mrs Karaitana was the pianist for the dancing. An amusing play was presented by the Rev. and Mrs J. Higgs, Mr and Mrs Allen, Mrs White and Miss Bloxam. The Ladies’ Guild provided supper. Soldier Entertained. A number of friends gathered at the home of Mr and Mrs F. Hood, Kahutara, on Thursday night when LanceCorporal Fenwick was entertained. During the evening songs were rendered by Miss Stansell and Mr W. Pope and much enjoyed. Mr D. Sullivan (violin) and Miss Stansell (piano) accompanied the community sing. Supper was provided by the hostesses. Mesdames Hood and Duffy.
