TO DUTCH EAST INDIES REPLY TO DEMANDS DISAPPOINTMENT EXPRESSED. BUT RESORT TO FORCE NOT ANTICIPATED. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.45 p.m.) TOKIO, June 6. Japan’s reaction to the Netherlands East Indies reply to the Japanese demands, will not be known until the full text of the reply has been received in Tokio. An official spokesman indicated at a Press conference that Japan would not resort to force even if the reply were considered to be unsatisfactory. She would continue to negotiate. It is reported from Batavia that Mr Yoshizawa, after receiving the Netherlands reply, asked M. Venmook to clear up some points, and..then took it away for study, which probably will take al considerable time., Mr Yoshizawa said I the reply was disappointing in some respects, but various points were still open for discussion. DIVIDED VIEWS GAPS TOO WIDE TO BE BRIDGED. JAPAN LINKED WITH ENEMIES. (Received This Day. 12.45 p.m.) BATAVIA. June 6. The “Java Bode,” in a leading article, said: “There are indications that certain gaps between the views of the two parties are too wide to be bridged. "If Japan had not linked herself with our enemies, with the consequent danger of some of our products falling into German hands, there would be no objection to filling her requests.”
