FOREIGN SHIPS
SEIZURE IN THE UNITED STATES PRESIDENT SIGNS BILL. NEARLY HALF' A MILLION TONS INVOLVED. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) LONDON, June 6. A Bill was signed by President Roosevelt today which provides for the taking over of every foreign ship lying idle in United States ports. The measure applies to about 84 ships, including the French liner Normandie, and about 30 Axis vessels—an aggregate of nearly half a million tons. President Roosevelt also issued an executive order enabling the Maritime Commission to use all these ships in service most useful to national defence.
