YUGOSLAV PROTEST

AGAINST DISMEMBERMENT OF COUNTRY ANNEXATION OF SLOVENIA. DIVISION BY AXIS POWERS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.35 a.m.) RUGBY, June 6. The Yugoslav Minister handed to the Foreign Secretary (Mr Eden) the following statement, in which the Yugoslav Government protests ■ against an attempt by Germany and Italy to annex the territory inhabited by Slovenes: “The Government of the German Reich and the Government of Italj'. after having occupied the territory of Yugoslavia by military force, have annexed Slovenia, one part to Germany and the other to Italy. This brutal dismemberment of the Slovene people, besides being a completely unjustifiable proceeding, is contrary to ethical principles, because on this territory annexed by Germany and Italy lives a population which is absolutely compact and of pure Slovene origin. The Royal Yugoslav Government, which includes among its members legitimate representatives of the Slovene people, protests against these proceedings of the German and Italian Governments, which, proceedings arc aimed to destroy the Slovene people and to dismember the territory of Yugoslavia as a nation and State.
