FIGURES FOR MAY. Mr H. M. Buddington reports that rain was measured at Solway on nine days in May. The maximum fall was 3.56 inches on the 4th. and the minimum 1 point on the 31st. The total for the month was 5.01. as compared with 4.38 (1940). 1.66 (1939), 1.22 (1938). 3.61 (1937). 2.64 (1936). The average for 38 years is 4.36 inches. The rainfall for the five months of this year is 19.03 inches, as against 14.16 (1940). 7.56 (1939), 22.31 (1938). 13.48 (1937). 22.29 (1936). The average for 38 years is 15.42 inches,
