CENTRAL SCHOOL

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. SIXTIETH ANNIVERSARY. The monthly meeting of the Centra! School Committee was held in the school last evening. There were present: Messrs J. E. MeV. Calwejl (chairman), W. R. Nicol, S. Dixon, J. H. Cole, S. Gibbs. P. Shaw, C. Braggins and W. L. Butler. A statement of receipts and expenditure for the month was adopted and accounts outstanding passed. Correspondence from the Masterton West Free Kindergarten Committee. Dental Clinic Committee. Federation of School Committees arid Educational Institute was dealt with. The headmaster. Mr E. G. Coddington. who was present, read his monthly report which showed a further increase in the roll number. The attendance was still being affected chiefly by cases of mumps. Milk and apples were still being distribut'd and appreciated by the children. The grounds and buildings were in good condition and no work was required to. be (lone. A matter connected with the 60th year of'the present school's existence was left in the hands of Mr Nicol. A scheme put forward by the headmaster was fully discussed and approved of and will be placed before all parents at a later date. It was decided to draw the attention of the tenant of certain ground connected with East School, to the condition of the grass thereon. The visiting committee for the month will be Messrs Colwell, Braggins and Shaw.
