CHINESE DROWNED TRAGEDY AT TE AWAITE. (“Times-Age” Special.) A Chinese resident of Martinborough known as “Dick," a married man with two • children lost his life while fishing at Te Awaite, on the coast, yesterday afternoon. In company with two youths, one of whom was Mr Arthur Hoare, of Martinborough, the victim of the tragedy struck his head heavily on a rock when the boat overturned in the breakers after leaving the shore. The two other occupants of the boat struggled ashore find soon afterwards recovered the body of the Chinese, who when last seen was clinging to a rock. The accident occurred al about 4 p.m. "Dick" was employed at Ihe Martinborough store of Joe Kwong On and Co.
