GREYTOWN
HOCKEY NOTES ("Times-Age" Special.) The Scouts-Carterton match on Saturday was a hard one in whicn the latter team triumphed by 4 goals to z. The Scouts played equally as good nockey as Caiaerton. Given stronger forwards on the left, they would probably have turned many attacking movements into goals. Another phase of play wnicn was to their advantage was me playing of the ball to the centre of the neld on defensive movements. On uie other hand, Carterton was not a well balanced team. Three aspects of play stood out: til Players do not understand the rules well enough; the offside rule was far too frequently broken. (.2) Players might well devote some nine learning the Hick and push strokes, and how to hit hard without giving sticks. (3) Ball control, passing, roll-in work, and tackling all showed defects. The local senior men expected to be fully extended by Old Boys, who playgood hockey. Hence a draw, with such a low score, speaks well for both sides. Next weeks match against Carterton will be looked forward to with interest.
