COSY THEATRE
“RIVERS END.” Tonight concludes the very successful season with this thrilling story of the Canadian “Mounties.” “FRENCH WITHOUT TEARS.” When he returned from making a picture in London, Ray Milland talked enthusiastically of a new continental film personality who is becoming a “rave” abroad. He is Jim Gerald, a French comedian who plays a character role with Milland and his co-star Cinderella Girl Ellen Drew, in Paramount’s screen version of “French Without Tears.” playwright Terence Rattigan’s London stage success. M. Gerald, according to Milland, is a monumental individual with one of the most pleasing personalities he ever has encountered. Jim\Gerald’s pre-movie career has included such tasks as lumbering in Alaska, working in a circus as a clown, touring as a music hall comic. Rene Claire gave him his first screen opportunity in “Le Voyage Imaginaire." A second French player appearing with Milland and Miss Drew in “French Without Tears.” is Janine Darcey, a vivacious brunette. This picture will be shown tomorrow night. Supporting the brilliantly witty feature is a splendid series of short subjects including the latest A’ir Mail News.
