SHOP DAY
WOMEN'S DIVISION EFFORT. COMFORTS FOR MERCANTILE MARINE. A shop day will be hold at the Masterton branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union's rest rooms Chilton Buildings. Chapel Street, Masterton. on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 1 o'clock. The proceeds will be used to procure wool for knitting woollen comforts for men of the Mercantile Marine in Britain. Lord Bledisloe has written to the Dominion president of the Women’s Division asking that its specific work be the provision of warm knitted goods for the brave men in the Mercantile Marine who go out in bitter weather with little shelter to keep the trade routes open. The need was greater than in the past, for men from Norway, Denmark, Free France, etc., whe were willing to help in the dangerous work were also assisting. Brandies of the Women’s Division through New Zealand are raising funds not only for knitting but for spinning the wool. The help of all members and sympathisers in the district is sought in the way of contributions for (ho shop day.
