KIATERE CLUB COACH AND CAPTAIN’S DAY. USEFUL TRAINING INDULGED IN. On Saturday a good number of runners turned out for the Kiatere Harrier Club’s “Coach and Captain’s Day” held at the Solway Showgrounds. Several sprints were run and then the runners jogged for a mile and had some instruction in going over fences. .A two-mile run was then held at a fast pace. In the seniors W. Burns, who is on leave from camp, showbd that he had lost none of his form, and W. MacDonald led the field, followed by W. Burgess. N. Jacobsen, who has been absent for a couple of weeks, easily won in the junior section. K. Greaves also performed well. Subsequently a presentation was made to W. Burns. Next week the seniors will compete in the annual race for the R. C. Falloon Rose Bowl, an open handicap of four miles. A 2-mile open handicap will be contested by the juniors.
