HERD IMPROVEMENT LOCAL RETURNS. (“Times-Age" Special.) The Wellington-Hawke’s Bay Herd Improvement Association reports having tested 36,133 cows in April. The average cow produced 4711 b milk of 5.4 average test yielding 25.481 b butterfat. The highest group in the Association was that of Shannon Group wherein 486 cows averaged 28.81 b butterfat. The highest herd in the Association was one of 10 cows which averaged 45.91 b fat, and the highest cow in the Association produced 781 b butterfat for the 30 day period. The following are the local group figures for April:— Group average: Eketahuna-Rongo-mai. 878 cows, 25.41bs butterfat: Nirea-ha-Hukanui, 755. 25.1; Pahiatua, 649, 26.1; Konini, 479, 21.8; Woodville, 1383, 27.8. Highest herd average: Eketahuna-s Rongomai, 24 cows, 361 b butterfat, highest cow, 561bs butterfat; NireahaHukanui, 44, 33, 54; Pahiatua, 55. 33, 58; Konini, 36, 30, 50; Woodville (two herds) 36. 73.
