FEATHERSTON
SCHOOL ASSOCIATION ANNUAL REPORT. ("Times-Age” Special.) The annual report of the Featherston Home and School Association states inter alia: —I am pleased to be able to state that our radio and loud speakers have at last been installed in the school and have proved a great asset to both teachers and children. There has also been added to our school library a valuable collection of books through the efforts of the Home and School Association. Acting on the suggestion of Mr Lowell to run a series of card tournaments, it was proposed to put Mr Lowell in charge of the same and they really were very successful. A letter of thanks has been sent to Miss Deemster for having donated the playing cards and I would like io express our sincere thanks to Mr Holland (the worthy chairman of the School Committee) and son, Mr R. Holland, for their very valuable help at our euchre tournaments. Miss Card, president, sent letters to Mrs Mitchell Tait and Mrs S. Murphy informing them that they had been made honorary life members in recogniiion of their past services. It is with sincere regret that we have had to lend Mr Kilsby during the war period. He is undertaking valuable work. On the motion of Miss Card, his services while on the Home and School Committee, have been recorded in the minutes. Another of our members (Mr Robbins) is engaged in war work. In regard to the official opening of the new school, there is nothing definite to report. I wish to thank Miss Card and all members of the association for their cooperation during the past year, especially the teaching staff and Mr Ritchie. \ GOLF CLUB BOGEY COMPETITION. The ladies played a bogey competition on the Gum Grove links on Wednesday afternoon. the result being: Mrs R. Donald 1, Mrs Gold 2, Mrs Pope o O. PLUNKET SOCIETY TWENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Plunket Society’s work in Featherston. At the annual meeting to be held on Wednesday the Plunket Nurse Miss V. B. Twentymen, will give an address on Plunket work. Personal Items. At the annual meeting of the Featherston Home and School Association, Miss Card referred to the regret felt at the resignation of Mrs Lowell, who is leaving the district and who had carried out her duties as secretary in 'a most efficient manner. Personal Items. i At the annual meeting of the Home and School Association Miss Card referred in terms of regret at the resignation of Mr K. H. Allen as he was leaving the district. She expressed appreciation of his work as treasurer since the foundation of the association. Miss E. B. Viles, after having spent a short holiday at Oriental Bay, has returned home. Mrs Cameron, of Wellington, is visiting Mrs Renton. Mr and Mrs Jenkins, Wellington, are the guests of Mrs A. Parsons. Mi's Hagan has returned to her home at Titahi Bay after having been the guest of Mrs Morgan. Private B. O’Neall and Lance-Cor-poral L. G. Fenwick from the Trentham camp, are visiting their homes. Swimming Club Dance. The Featherston Swimming Club will hold a dance in the Anzac Hall on Saturday night.
