SALE AT x ADDINGTON VALUES IMPROVE IN SOME SECTIONS. ■ KEEN DEMAND FOR FAT LAMBS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 28. Small entries were the rule in most sections of the Addington market to- • day, and in some there was an improvement in values. Store sheep: A small entry, compris--1 ed mainly of station and forward we- ■ ther lambs, which improved by Is a head, was forward in this section. Ewe lambs made to 19s. Two-tooth ewes were Is to Is 6d better. Fat lambs: One thousand one hundred and fifty were penned, and a keen sale resulted, the export schedule having improved. Top quality lines made from 29s to 345. Fat sheep: There was a small penning of about 3000 head, and an allround advance of Is a head. Lines of quality southern ewes sold freely. A few old light ewes were penned. Best wethers made from 25s to 31s; tops, to 345; others, 22s to 265; best ewes, 18s to 21s; medium, to 17s; light, to 15s. Fat cattle: Four hundred and ninetyfive head were penned, including southern lines. The market opened firmly. Good steers made £l4 to £l6; tops, ly. Good steers made £l4 to 16s; tops, to £18; medium, £ll 10s to £l3 10s; light, down to £B. A few good heifers and cows were forward, the best making £l2 and £ll respectively. This class was weaker. Best beef made from 35s to 37s a 1001 b., with tops going to a shade more. Medium to good made 32s to 34s 6d; and inferior down to 255. Fat pigs: There was a heavj r porker entry and an easing of 3s to 4s a head resulted. There was a similar easing for bacon pigs. Porkers made from £2 8s 6d to £2 14s 6d, an average per lb. of 6.‘,d to 7d; baconers made £3 2s 6d to £5 4s 6d, an average per lb. of 61d to 7d. MASTERTON SALE ; GOOD DEMAND FOR STORE SHEEP , FAT EWES LACK WEIGHT. ' The Associated Auctioneers held their weekly sale at Masterton yester- 1 day. There was an average yarding of 1 store and fat sheep offered to a good < attendance of buyers. In the store < sheep section competition was keen throughout, and a good sale resulted. The fat sheep entry consisted mainly of fat ewes which lacked weight and : quality. The following prices will in- : dicate values: — Fat sheep: Wethers, 21s to 23s Id; 2-th. b.f., 20s 3d; fat ewes, 7s 6d to 10s 6d. • Store sheep: W.W. hoggets, 13s 9d to 1 20s; shorn w. hoggets, 13s lOd to 14s; 1 b.f. lambs, 16s 7d to 17s 6d. ■ Wethers: Two-tooth and 4-th., 20s; • 5-yr. and 6-yr. ewes, r.w. S.D., 12s 6d; store ewes, 6s.
PAHIATUA SALE KEEN COMPETITION. PRICES FIRM ON LATE RATES. The Associated Auctioneers report on the Pahiatua sale as follows: —A moderate yarding of sheep was offered to a fail- attendance of buyers. Prices were generally firm on late rates, and keen competition was experienced. Quotations: —Fat ewes, 12s 6d, Ils 3d to 10s: fat wethers, 25s 3d, 22s 6d to 21s; w.f.w. lambs (good), 16s lOd, 16s 3d ; 15s 8d to 15s Id; medium, 13s 9d, 13s to 12s; b.f. lambs, 14s. 12s to Ils 6d; small. 8s 6d, 7s to 6s Bd. Pigs: Weaners (good), 10s, 9s to 7s 6d; stores, 15s 6d to 12s; porkers, 255.
