Advice has been received that Private David O’Connor, of Masterton, is reported as missing. The Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer, Minister of Health, returned to Wellington from Auckland yesterday. Mr and Mrs Bert Faulknor, Masterton, have received cable advice from their son, Private Robert Faulknor, that he is safe and Avell. Corporal A. C. Clarke, of Tinui, has cabled to friends in Masterton that he has returned to the British military base from Greece, and is fit and well. Mr and Mrs T. Newland, Te Ore Ore Road. Masterton, have received advice that, their son, Private L. J. Newland, is missing, and that their other son, Private W. R. Newland is safe. Mr W. H. Price, one of the two representatives of the payers of dues on British ships, was elected chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board at the annual statutory meeting last night. Father P. McCrory and Father M J. McNally have arrived at Auckland from England to join the staff of.St. Peter’s Rural Training School conducted at Northcote by the Mill Hill Fathers. The Hon. H. T. Armstrong, Minister of Public Works, will leave Wellington tonight for Christchurch. He will return on Saturday morning and leave Wellington by the Limited express on Sunday night for Auckland. Among the New Zealand soldiers reported missing in connection with the Avar activities in Greece is Private Jack Gadsby, of Ohura, and formerly of the staff of the “Wairarapa Daily Times,’ Masterton. Two sisters reside in Masterton. The deatli occurred this morning of Miss Edith Emma Husband, at the age of 73 years. The late Miss Husband. who was born in Suffolk, came to New Zealand 29 years ago. She was of a quiet and retiring disposition. The funeral will leave the Chapel of Hyde’s Funeral Service, tomorrow, following a service at 10 a.m: fori the Masterton Cemetery. > The death occurred yesterday in Wellington of Mr E. M. Sandston, who was for some years in business on Lambton Quay as an optician. Later, Mr Sandston returned to his native city of Christchurch, where he 'was engaged in optical business in a wholesale Avay, as a partner in the firm of Sandston and Falke. Mr Sandston, who died at the age of 69 years, Avas a good amateur photographer, and in recent years, following his retirement from business, took an interest in animated photography. He leaves a widow, a sister of Mrs Perry, wife of the Hon. W. Perry, M.L.C. There is no family.
