AWARD TO FLYING OFFICER GAWITH THE OFFICIAL CITATION. CONVOY ESCORTS & ATTACKS ON AERODROMES. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day. 9.25 a.m.) LONDON. May 26. The citation in connection with the award of the D.F.C. to Flying Officer Alan Antill Gawith (son of Mr and Mrs A. C. Gawith, of Longbush) says Flying Officer Gawith had been employed with his squadron since last April, and after the outbreak of war carried out numerous operational flights, including convoy escorts, often in bad weather. On other occasions he carried out attacks on aerodrome buildings, bombing them from a low altitude, in face of heavy ground fire. Throughout he displayed great zeal and determination.

FLIGHT LIEUTENANT REA “MOST ABLE FLYING-BOAT CAPTAIN." CITATION TO D.F.C. AWARD. (Received This Day. 9.25 a.m.) LONDON. May 26. The citation in connection with the award of the D.F.C. to Flight Lieutenant William Samuel Rea, states that Lieutenant Rea, since the outbreak of war, has flown for a considerable number of hours by day and night, in all conditions of weather. He is a most able flying-boat captain, carrying out his allotted tasks with resource and skill and has set an excellent example.
