The Governor-General and Lady Newall left Auckland last night on their first official visit to Hamilton to perform the opening ceremony of the Waikato Winter Show today. They will return to Auckland this evening. Mr R. B. Hendry has left Masterton to join the Air Force Training School, at Levin. Mr and Mrs W. Golder, of Masterton. have received a Telegram from the Minister of Defence stating that their son. Private Arthur Charles Golder, of Masterton, is missing. Mr N. S. Munn, who was wounded in one of his arms on the Waingawa River bank on Sunday, was operated on at the Masterton Hospital yesterday and the bullet was removed. His condition is satisfactory. Constable E. B. McCallum, of Wellington, and formerly of Blenheim, has taken up duty in Masterton in succession to Constable R. H. Hill, who has been transferred to wharf duty in Wellington. Mrs K. Howard, of Masterton, has received cabled advice that her son, Private Pat Howard, has returned to the British military base from Greece, and is fit and well. Senior-Sergeant G. A. Doggett and Mrs Doggett, of Masterton, have received advice that their son. Private E. F. Doggett, who left New Zealand with tlie Third Echelon, has been safely evacuated from Greece and is fit and well. The funeral of the late Mr Henry Hill took place in Masterton this morning, the service at the residence and that at the graveside being conducted by the Rev. H. S. Kings. Many beautiful wreaths were in evidence. The pall-bearers were Messrs R. D’Ath Senr.. R. D’Ath Junr., A. D’Ath. C. J. Douglas, C. Douglas and J. Lambert. Captain J. H. Hall, who is posted as missing, was appointed public relations officer on his arrival in Egypt with New Zealand troops which had been in Britain for some time. He left New Zealand as official war correspondent and in addition to his recently acquired duties he continued to act as a war correspondent when opportunity offered. The last dispatch received Captain Hall in Greece was dated from Athens on April 21. A well-known Napier resident, Mr Leonard Seymour McClurg, has died at the age of 66. Born in Downpatrick, County Down, Northern Ireland, Mr McClurg came to New Zealand with his parents in his early youth. Before going to Napier over 30 years ago, he was in business in Ashburton as a jeweller, later purchasing the similar business in Napier of McLerons, Ltd., which he carried on to the time of his death. Mr McClurg was a foundation member of the Napier Rotary Club and a former president. At the annual meeting of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society the following officers were elected: Patron. the Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall; president, Mr Tripp; vicepresidents, Sir Hubert Ostler. Messrs L. G. Reid. E. Riddiford, W. H. Field. Tn a ballot to fill four vacancies on the council the following' were elected: Messrs D. J. Gibbs, T. R. Boyes. H. Goodwin and W. A. R. Jones. The following retain their seats on the council: Dr G. F. V. Anson. Messrs J. S. Fleming, A. J. Seed. S. T. Tisdall and P. R. Rose.
