GUN CLUB SHOOTING
WAIRARAPA CLUB WEEK-END MEETING. COMPETITION WINNERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) During the week-end, members of the Wairarapa Gun Club held a very successful clay bird shoot on its grounds at Norfolk Road. The meeting was well managed by the president (Mr C. E. Grey) and the club’s capable secretary (Mr C. M. Kiddie). The afternoon was beautifully fine, and conditions favoured good shooting, but, strange to say, the shooting was not of a very high order. The following were the results of the matches fired: — Five Bird Eye Opener.—C. E. Grey (16yds.), J. McKenzie (16yds.) and D. McKenzie, with four out of five breaks, divided the prize money. Fifteen competed. Novice Five Bird Match. —H. Bannister and J. Bouzaid, from 11 yards, tied with 4 birds ,and in the shoot-off Bannister won. Nine competed. Ten Bird Sweepstake, “A” and “B” Grade. —J. McKenzie (16) shot the possible, getting his clays with the first barrel. C. E. Grey and R. Williams (16) secured eight birds and divided’ second and third prize money in the. "A” grade. C. Newman, Lower Hutt (11yds.), scoring 10 hits, took first prize in the “B” grade. S. M. Baird (11yds.) was second, and A. D. McKay (11yds.) third. Fifteen competed. A 10 bird sweepstake under the same conditions resulted in a win for J. and D. McKenzie with 9 birds in the A grade ,and Baird and Bannister, who got 7 birds each in the B grade. Thirteen competed. Double Rise: J. McKenzie was first with 8 birds, and C. E. Grey and J. D. McKenzie .with 7, got second money. Ten competed. Mr J. Simpson controlled the traps very capably.
