Emir Abdul lllah has sent a former Premier to act as his representative in the Basra area, where he has received many expressions of loyalty. The Regent has voiced his pleasure at the number of Iraqui troops who have returned to Bagdad rather than go into action against the British. They point out that they wore misled by Racliid Ali. who had informed them that they were going on manoeuvres.
