Carterton and Old Boys met at Lansdowne on Saturday and provided an interesting and fast game. Carterton set the pace from the commencement and had Old Boys’ backs hard pressed, but the latter held the attack well. A misunderstanding by the Old Boys’ goalie enabled Jackson to open the score about half-way through the spell. Carterton kept up the pace and a good run by their forwards gave A. Fisher a shot which the Old Boys’ goalie miskicked, the ball going into the net. Old Boys then set up an attack and Faulknor scored. The halftime score was: Carterton 2, Old Boys I. On resuming. Carterton went straight through and short passing by Jackson and A. Fisher ended in the former scoring. Old Boys livened up and from a penalty corner, Marchbank scored. A good run was made by Jackson whose shot at goal was stopped by the goalie, but Jackson followed in and scored. A little later Fisher goaled. Old Boys then took a turn at attacking. An infringement by Carterton gave Old Boys a penalty corner from which Hanley shot a good goal. The final whistle sounding shortly after with the score: Carterton 5, Old Boys 3. Messrs Cole and Hayne were in control. GREYTOWN v. WESLEY. Grey town and Wesley met at Greytown where a surprise was staged, Greytown winning by 3 goals to nil. KING’S BIRTHDAY TOURNEY.
