CARTERTON
WEDDING BALL—DWANE. (“Times-Age” Special.) An evening wedding which took place at Wanganui last month was that of Baraba Dorothy, second daughter of Mr and Mrs W. J. Dwane, Carterton, and David, second son of Mrs E. and the late Mr D. J. Ball, Wanganui. The Rev. Father Larsen officiated. The bride’s gown was of white sharkskin cloque, modelled with a pintucked bodice, heart-shaped neckline and short full sleeves. Her embroidered tulle veil, lent by Mrs R. Gilbertson, sister of the bridegroom, was held to the head with a halo of orange blossom. Long lace gloves were worn and her bouquet was of white gladioli and roses.
The bridesmaid was Miss Hilda Dwane, Pahiatua, sister of the bride, who wore a mermaid green frock with full skirt gathered into a fitting waistline, puli' sleeves and wide revers. A halo of flowers to tone with the frock was worn, and she carried a bouquet of autumn-tinted gladioli and roses. Mr Ronald Gilbertson, Ohakea, bro-ther-in-law of the bridegroom, was best man.
A reception was held in the home of the bridegroom's mother, Halswell Street. The bride's mother wore a floral frock under a navy silk coat, navy accessories and pink shaded shoulder spray. Mrs Ball chose a black American model frock, smart black toque and white shoulder spray. Mrs R. Gilbertson, sister of the bridegroom, a daffodil sheer frock with hair spray to match: Mrs J. Langdon (Te Awamutu), sister of the bridegroom, pale blue net frock and black coatee, and Miss B. Ball, sister of the bridegroom, dahlia taffeta frock .with matching spray.
The bride's travelling ensemble was a smart grey plaid tailored coat with woollen frock to tone and black hat and accessories. •.
Dance at Parkvale. Residents cf Parkvale and surrounding districts are reminded of the dance and euchre tourney to be held tonight under the auspices of the Parkvale Women’s Institute. Mrs Ashton's Orchestra will provide the dance music. Footballers’ Social Gathering. Members of the Carterton Football Club will tender a social gatherii /; to Privates B. H. Gayfer and Thos. Harp, in the Masonic Hall tonight. There is sure to be a large attendance of members of the Football Club and members of other sporting organisations to honour the guests. First-class music will be supplied.
