GREYTOWN

COURT SITTING UNAUTHORISED PATRIOTIC COLLECTOR. (“Times-Age" Special.) The monthly silting of the Magistrates' Court was held at Greytown yesterday. Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M.. presided. Elizabeth Maud Higgins was charged with collecting money for patriotic purposes without being a duly authorised collector, as required under the provisions of the Patriotic Purposes Emergency Regulations. The Magistrate entered a conviction and ordered payment of costs. He issued a warning against unauthorised collectors soliciting donations for patriotic purposes. William Trilford was fined 10s, costs 10s, for having no warrant of fitness for his motor vehicle. B. G. Hosking was fined £l, with costs 10s, for a similar offence. Bruce Challis was fined £2, with costs 10s, for having no driver’s licence. Noel Wallace, for driving a vehicle having no licence plates, was fined £l, with costs 10s. For having no lights showing as prescribed by the regulations, he was fined £2, with costs 10s. Rorego Maaka, for assisting in the supply of liquor to a native for consumption ofi‘ licensed premises, was convicted and fined'£s, with costs 10s. John Rowlands, licensee of the Greytown Hotel, was fined £5, with costs 10s, for selling liquor after hours. For being found on licensed premises after hours, Charles Sorensen, Bernard Trotman, Arthur Andrews and Robert Malcolm were each fined 10s and costs.
