Four Spitfires patrolling over a convoy in the English Channel this afternoon met ten Messerschmitt IG9's. In the fight which followed, five Messerschmitts were shot down in as many minutes, without loss to ourselves. Two of the Spitfire pilots got two each and a third the other one. Only one enemy pilot had time to bale out. The light gave the pilots their revenge for an episode earlier in Die day when a formation of Messerschmitt 1 Oil’s pounced on Iwo machines of the same squadron and shot them down. Belli pilots baled out and were saved. This squadron now claims 87 victories.
