GOLF SEASON COMPETITIONS COMMENCED. (“Times-Age” Special.) All golf competitions were commenced during the weekend, there being a good attendance of players. The competitions will be continued on the next playing day. In a Kummerstein Cup match, Mrs J. Bannister defeated Mrs A. McGregor, and R. Weston withstood a challenge from M. Paku for the Nimmo Cup. Successful Dance. The dance organised by the ladies of the district to provide funds for the purchase of clothing and comforts for British refugees was held in the hall on Saturday evening, and was successful in every respect, being well patronised by local residents, there being also a large number of visitors. During the evening several novelty dances and raffles were held. Mrs and Mr J. Bannister won the Monte Carlo, Miss Gray and Mr F. McKinstry won the lucky chain waltz. The The dinner was won by Miss E. Bannister, Mr F. Burrows winning the second prize. A feature of the gathering was the supper which was provided by the ladies’ committee. The music was supplied by Mrs lan McGregor and Mr R. L. McKinstry. The committee wish to thank all those who supported the function, the result being most gratifying.
