BUILDING SOCIETY ANNUAL REPORT. _ (“Times-Age" Special.) The following report of No. 2 Group of the Permanent Building Society is to be submitted to the annual meeting to be held on May 28: “This Group has now completed its 15th year and satisfactory progress has been made in view of present conditions. The bal.ance in the profit and loss account has been increased by £475 v 12s lid to £11,480 14s 4d. During the year £7,950 was appropriated—£l,soo by sale and / £6,450 by ballot. Further sums were appropriated by ballot but were foregone. An appropriation of £6OO by sale will be offered at the annual meeting." The report is signed for the directors by Mr L. H. Smart, chairman. Soldiers Farewelled. There was a large and representative gathering at’the Carterton railway station yesterday afternoon to farewell the soldiers who left for the Trentham Camp. Personal Items. Mrs Williams, who had been spending a holiday with Mrs W. Hayden, Holloway Street, has returned to Napier. Mr and Mrs Doug. Vaughan, of Wanganui, are the guests of Mr and Mrs Vaughan Senr., Carterton. Mrs W. C. Robertson, who had been visiting Carterton, returned to Wellington yesterday en route to Wanganui. Mr H. Merewood, of South Carterton, is visiting Palmerston North. Dance and Euchre Party.
At the Parkvale Hall tonight the fortnightly dance and card party will be held, the proceeds from which will be handed to the Patriotic Funds. Mrs V. J. Ashton’s Orchestra will provide the music. Those who do not dance may take part in a card tournament, the first prizes in each section being a turkey. Dance at Belvedere. Despite the fact that there have been many attractions this week there was a good attendance at the dance at Belvedere last evening. Music for the dancing was supplied by Mrs Rogers, of Dalefield. Extras were played by Master M. Knowles (Christchurch) and Mr A. Morris. Mr A. E. Reid was an efficient M.C. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mrs Thomas and Mr N. Jensen. i
